Cue Music...
The sound of a hundred chairs gently sliding back as the chapel doors open, the officiator's voice crisp and clear asking unnecessarily for your guests to rise. From the DJ's table he can see the breath leave their bodies... They breathe in. Some try to disguise their tears, your families have given up on this quest as the moment proved too big for their hearts. Your groom can't believe his eyes and the emotion in them turns you into a water colored painting, perfect in it's place.
A shaky but sturdy handshake as her father entrusts her to you, your hands still wet from the ordeal that overtook you. "I won't need napkins" - you remembered those silly thoughts. He removes her veil - "keep it together now"... The music fades right on cue, as it fades you know she chose the perfect song - the one that's about you.
The background music adds to the atmosphere as your guests leave the chapel. Outside - they are waiting for you. A Thumbs up from the newly weds to the DJ - That's the signal, that's the song - Its time for Confetti - and the celebration - all day long.
A quick group photo and your off to canapés...
The music already playing in the background. Drinks submerged in ice quickly disappear as your guests soak in the moment. You swing by, husband and wife, just a quick "hi" before you're off to capture the palpable memories - the photographs you will cherish for the rest of your lives.
Back at your very own reception. It is empty and quiet outside. As your guests await in anticipation for your return, you hear the harmonious blend of chatter and tinkering glasses floating lightly on the evening breeze. You can see the glance of warm light eradiating through some of the open windows. Maybe it's the lights or maybe it's your delighted guests accompanied with good music that's responsible for the warmth you can feel flowing from the inside. "Are you ready?" asks the coordinator, you nod and she gives the signal to the DJ. It starts playing - the exact same song that played in the background when you first met. The doors fling open and a standing ovation greets you as the guests of honor. A little twirl and a swing as you make your way across the dancefloor to your table.
Pop the Champagne...
The speeches and toasts are everything you dreamt it would be. Every syllable is audible. Even those silent composure-grabbing pauses are crystal clear. Finally it is time for the man of the hour to take the stand. He watches in anticipation as the men, some of whom are his best friends, make their way to give him all the nonsense he can bare - each and everyone of them with their own chair... His bride, in all her beauty, and rightly so, keeps his attention. He speaks and it echoes through the loudspeakers straight into every guest's heart: "Diamonds are found in the rough, berried deep beneath the ground - but I didn't need a shovel nor a drill, no pixel axe or mining mill. You carved and scraped your own way up to the sun. I stumbled upon a diamond, here I am - the lucky one. Thank you for choosing me".
Dinner is served...
Is it the music or the food that makes it taste so great? Is it the stylish tables and decorations of flowers in abundance? Is it it the good company you keep at the table? Maybe it is the perfect combination of all these senses-tickling elements. You can't pin it down, but all you realize is that you are right there, immersed knee deep in this moment. You touch the atmosphere, it is definitely real. Your dessert is right around the corner. A small stroll to the table where hundreds of freshly made desserts awaits your almost satisfied apatite. Inviting and decorated to persuade the most disciplined fitness enthusiast you load up on those calories. Not worried too much... You know this DJ has got your back and he is going to make you loose all of it on that dancefloor.
Dim the lights...
The MC walks over to the podium where the microphone is awaiting his orders. "Ladies and gentlemen - It's time for the first dance." You walk up to each other with confidence, you have been practicing this dance for two weeks. The videographer's light makes your faces screech just a little, but no-one notices. There is a phew gasps among your guests as your song begins to play. All the memories that grew strong with this song, your song, is right there staring back into your eyes. The snapping of photographs brings you back to this moment that you are never going to loose. A little squirt of smoke from the DJ's machine brings it all together. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
With the exhilarating effects lights on and the smoke machine sending signals like a Wild Wild West Indian, the dancefloor is literally on fire! All the DJ's preparation has paid off and every song is better than the previous. No requests from the guest... It simply wasn't necessary.
Sadness falls as a Covid19 regulation forces the DJ to play Closing Time. It's the end of his workday and even he is sad that this day had to come to an end. "Everything was perfect" - he thinks as his headphones gets placed back into its pouch.
